Compare three crossed-out Unicode styles

Use the standard horizontal strike for familiar edits, or test a shorter stroke or slash when a destination font renders it more clearly.

Standard strikethrough

d̶r̶a̶f̶t̶ c̶a̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶

The most familiar crossed-out style for tasks, revisions, and old prices.

Short stroke

d̵r̵a̵f̵t̵ c̵a̵p̵t̵i̵o̵n̵

A lighter horizontal overlay that can fit compact lettering more closely.

Slash overlay

d̸r̸a̸f̸t̸ c̸a̸p̸t̸i̸o̸n̸

A diagonal cancellation mark for a stronger visual correction.

How copyable strikethrough text works

This generator places a combining Unicode stroke after each non-space character. The ordinary letter remains in the text, and the added mark is drawn across or through it. That produces copyable crossed-out text for many fields that do not offer a native strikethrough button.

Standard strikethrough uses a long horizontal overlay. Short stroke uses a more compact horizontal mark, while slash overlay uses a diagonal line. The output contains extra code points, so verify the converted length with the character counter before pasting into a limited profile field.

Unicode strikeout vs. native formatting

A word processor, rich-text editor, HTML page, or Markdown app can visually strike the original letters without changing their character data. Unicode strikeout text adds actual combining marks. That makes it portable to some plain-text inputs, but native formatting is more consistent, searchable, and accessible whenever the destination supports it.

Cross out one short, nonessential phrase

Use crossed-out text for a completed task, old price, playful correction, or retired option. Avoid applying it to a full profile, legal notice, safety instruction, or essential call to action. Keep the replacement value in normal text, and preview both desktop and mobile rendering before publishing.

Strikethrough text FAQ

What does a strikethrough text generator create?

It adds a Unicode combining stroke after each visible character. The result looks crossed out in many plain-text fields and remains selectable and copyable.

Can I copy and paste crossed-out text into social apps?

Usually. Many current social, messaging, and community apps display combining Unicode marks, but line position and spacing can vary by app, browser, operating system, and fallback font.

Is Unicode strikethrough the same as real text formatting?

No. HTML, Markdown, and rich-text editors apply formatting to the original characters. Copyable strikethrough adds separate Unicode overlay marks, which is why it can work in some plain-text inputs.

Why does the strike line look uneven or broken?

Each app chooses its own font and positions combining marks differently. Spaces also remain unmarked so words stay easier to copy. Try the short-stroke mode or use native formatting when appearance must be exact.

Does crossed-out Unicode affect character limits or accessibility?

Yes. Every overlay is an additional Unicode code point, and screen readers may announce the text unpredictably. Keep important names, keywords, prices, and instructions in ordinary text.

Does ProfileQuill store my text?

No. Strikethrough conversion runs locally in your browser and does not require an account or send your input to a server.
